Education - Strategic Partnership for Children, Young People and Families
The Strategic Partnership for
Children, Young People and
their Families was established
in April 1998 to co-ordinate
the planning of children’s and
family services across the City. It now has a broader remit to
co-ordinate service planning for
vulnerable children and young
people. ‘Children and young
people’ generally means all those
from birth to 19 years of age
living in the City. For some very
vulnerable groups, young people
in their 20s are included.
The Partnership has specific responsibility
for the ‘Children and Young
People Block’ of the Local
Area Agreement, and for
monitoring the targets set out
in the Education Floor target
Action Plan. It is currently
commissioning work to achieve
these targets drawing down the
NRF budget for 2006-08.
The partnership's current
members are drawn from the
City Council, Nottingham PCT,
and Public Agencies including
the Police, together with the
voluntary and community
sector. The current Chair, Di
Smith, is Services Director
for Children and Families
Commissioning in the newly
formed Children’s Services
department. Membership
and terms of reference are
now being reviewed so that
the new responsibilities for
joint commissioning set out in
the Children Act 2004 can be
assumed.
